Parsippany, NJ - CARF announced that the nonprofit organization, Community Hope, has been accredited for a period of three years for its Community Housing, Supported Living and Case Management programs serving adults in recovery from mental illness. This is the second consecutive three-year accreditation that the international accrediting commission has awarded to Community Hope.

“We are delighted to have received our second outstanding accreditation,” said J. Michael Armstrong, Community Hope’s Executive Director. “It is a validation of the professionalism of our organization and the commitment of our staff to enhancing the lives of the individuals we serve.”

This accreditation outcome represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows Community Hope’s substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.

Community Hope was founded by mental health professionals and family members of young adults with mental illness in 1985 with the opening of a single residence serving five individuals. Today, the organization serves 230 individuals in recovery from mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse.

Community Hope operates a complete continuum of transitional and supportive housing programs, including the largest program in New Jersey for homeless veterans. Together with its partner agency, Comprehensive Behavioral Healthcare, Community Hope also operates the CHAMP Program and the new Partnership Program at the Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital campus. These initiatives aim to help long-time patients begin re-acclimating to community and family life.

CARF is an independent, non-for-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
