Community Hope, Inc. Receives Grant Award from Disabled Veterans National Foundation

June 14, 2021

Parsippany, NJ – Community Hope, Inc. is honored to announce it has received a grant from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) for $18,000, which will provide emergency temporary financial assistance (TFA) to the veteran families we serve in our Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program. SSVF is a homeless prevention and rapid re-housing program which addresses housing stability for veteran families with very low income. Community Hope’s Program serves over 500 households (veterans and family members) yearly in 15 New Jersey Counties. Veterans need TFA to help them cover emergent needs including food and household supplies as they stabilize their housing and receive the support necessary to resume independent living.

Carmine V. Deo, Executive Director of Community Hope said, “We are committed to helping the vast number of returning veterans affected by the trauma of multiple tours and years of combat, who may be experiencing financial hardship or struggling because of life situations like losing a job. This grant will provide them with the temporary financial aid they need to get back on their feet, and stabilize themselves and their families so they resume productive and independent lives. TFA funds are distributed for: food for the family, mattresses, emergency hotel stays, rent security, utility deposits or rental and utility arrears to help them either stay in their housing or relocate to more affordable housing.” Mr. Deo said “Community Hope is the leading New Jersey nonprofit organization rescuing veterans from homelessness in New Jersey. The agency has assisted over 7,000 veterans overcome homelessness since opening its first program in 2004.”

Joseph Van Fonda (USMC Sgt.Maj. Ret.), CEO of the Disabled Veterans National Foundation said, “We are proud to support Community Hope, Inc, as they continue to make a positive impact in veterans’ lives. We would like to congratulate and thank them for their commitment to assisting the men and women who served in defense of our country.”
