Disabled American Veterans (Dav) Charitable Service
Trust Grants $40,000 To Community Hope
In Support Of Homeless Veterans
Parsippany, NJ – Community Hope was recently awarded a $40,000 grant from the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust. The grant will support transitional housing, mental health, food, and supportive services in Community Hope’s veterans programs. These programs include the transitional housing Hope for Veterans Program, the Alfred J. Thomas Home for Veterans, the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, and the SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program. Altogether, Community Hope serves between 800 and 1,000 individuals in its veterans programs annually.
One of Community Hope’s goals is to eradicate veteran homelessness in New Jersey. We seek to do so through the transitional housing programs we run for veterans – the Hope for Veterans Program and the Alfred J. Thomas Home for Veterans – and through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program, which helps veteran households obtain or maintain their housing. In our Bringing Veterans Home program, funded through a grant from the Department of Community Affairs of the state of New Jersey, we help to end veteran homelessness through outreach and supportive services.
“Community Hope is proud to have been the recipient of support from the Disabled American Veterans Charitable Trust for many years,” says Carmine Deo, Chief Executive Officer of Community Hope. “With their support, we have been able to continue our programs serving veterans. Help from the Trust has allowed us to touch the lives of thousands of veterans and their families who otherwise might have nowhere else to turn for help.”
Through its veterans programs, Community Hope has helped thousands of veterans and their families rise out of homelessness and reintegrate into their communities.
