Community Hope, Inc. Announces Support from Bank of America for Mental Health and Veterans Programs
Funding Will Allow Community Hope to Reach Underserved and At-Risk Individuals in New Jersey Communities
Parsippany, New Jersey – Community Hope, Inc., a New Jersey nonprofit serving individuals with mental illness and homeless veterans, is the recipient of a $50,000 grant from Bank of America.
This grant will help Community Hope provide shelter and services to the individuals in its care while prioritizing their mental and physical health and meeting their individual needs.
Community Hope has been providing shelter and services to individuals disabled by mental illness since 1985, when the organization started its first supportive group home for individuals leaving long-term psychiatric hospitalizations. Today, its mental health program reaches hundreds of people every year.
Since 2004, Community Hope has also provided shelter and services to homeless New Jersey veterans. Their Hope for Veterans Program serves up to 95 homeless veterans at a time, providing them with shelter and wraparound services to help them overcome homelessness. The Supportive Services for Veteran Families program serves hundreds of homeless veterans and their families every year, rapidly rehousing those that are homeless, and providing financial assistance to those that are at risk of homelessness. Since Community Hope was founded, it has helped thousands of individuals rise above poverty, illness, and homelessness.
“Community Hope is so grateful to Bank of America for its generous support of our mission,” says Carmine V. Deo, MBA, MSW, LCSW, Chief Executive Officer of Community Hope. “Thanks to the Foundation, we will be able to continue to serve some of the most at-risk and underserved members of New Jersey communities.”
“Honoring those who served also means recognizing the challenges veterans often face when they return home. For far too many, that includes the risk of homelessness,” said Alberto Garofalo, president, Bank of America New Jersey. “Community Hope provides support when and where it’s most needed, and we’re proud to support these efforts.”
